What is the FIM MiniGP Australia Series?

The FIM MiniGP Australia Series is one of Dorna's Road To MotoGP™ programs.

It is a National race series that takes place across 5 rounds in Australia, racing Ohvale MiniGP bikes on go kart tracks.

For the 2023 season, the top two riders from the 160cc class and top three riders from the 190cc are invited to compete in the World Series in Valencia, against up to 18 other countries, with the winner securing themselves a spot in one of Dorna's Road to MotoGP™ programs!

The opporunities available to juniors are nothing short of amazing:

  • The Champions of each National MiniGP Series for both 160cc and 190cc categories will be given the opportunity to participate in the FIM MiniGP World Series Final that will be take place during the week of the FIM MotoGP World Championship`s final season event. The winner of each of the categories of the FIM MiniGP World Series Final will secure a spot in one of the Road to MotoGP programs.*

  • In 2023, the top three riders from each race class were given the opportunity to have a meet and greet with Jack Miller at the Australian MotoGP round, where they could have a chat and even sit on Jack's MotoGP bike!

Classes

For the 2024 season there are two premier classes available:

FIM MiniGP 160cc - This class is open for 10-14 years old (Ohvale GP-0 160cc)

FIM MiniGP 190cc - This class is open for 12-16 years old (Ohvale GP-2 190cc)

There will also be multiple Support Categories available for riders over 16.

Round 3 - Ipswich (QLD)

Round 4 - Monarto (SA)

Round 5 - Oakleigh (VIC)

Bike

FIM MiniGP 160cc class

  • Ohvale GP-0 160cc 4spd

  • All bikes will have a sealed engine so no modifications can be completed, ensuring a level playing field.

  • Bikes must follow technical regulations

FIM MiniGP 190cc class

  • Ohvale GP-2 190cc 4spd

  • All bikes will have a sealed engine so no modifications can be completed, ensuring a level playing field.

  • MUPO Suspension, Slipper Clutch allowed

  • Bikes must follow technical regulations

Tyres

Pirelli is the official tyre for the FIM MiniGP World Series. For each round there is an allocation of tyres and a maximum of 2 sets of tyres per Round for each participant. There will be a tyre change service available at each round.
